Our vision is to make a variety of volunteer opportunities available to everyone. When I was in my 20's I loved the idea of volunteering but had very little money to donate and did not have the time or mental/emotional energy to commit to training and scheduled shifts.
I found it difficult to find a place to volunteer with minimal notice and "Volunteer on a Dime" was created
I hope to work with other individuals to create a database of volunteer opportunities ranging from those that require no training and little notice to those that ask for more commitment. I believe people want to volunteer and give back to their community but become discouraged at the prospect of having to find an organization they would pair well with, especially if they want to volunteer with little notice and no long-term commitment
Our mission is to continually update our website with a variety of volunteer opportunities, eventually expanding to become a nationwide organization where individuals can simply type in their zipcode and find a list of options and contact points
This is a completely non-profit endeavour. I created this website and will be responding to emails personally. In the future, as we hopefully expand, we may request donations. For now, the best way to help is to email us volunteer opportunities to add to the site!
I encourage anyone with volunteer opportunities to contact me at "VolunteerOnADimeToday@gmail.com"
The more detailed information you can provide the better, with a preference for low-commitment easy access opportunities
This section includes volunteer opportunities that you can "do on a dime" - if you find yourself with a free afternoon check one of these out!
Below is a link to the American Redcross where you can type in your zipcode and find a location to donate blood - same day appointments are often available and require nothing more than an hour of your time - this is a great way to make a huge impact with little effort
Similar to finding a spot to donate blood, you can use this site to find a local center that works with plasma donations. This can take 2-3 hours but they typically provide a personal laptop where you can stream a movie. Great option if you want to give back to the world while also relaxing!
Clean out your home and take gently used items to a nearby donation facility - these items may not suite your life anymore but could help turn another person's life around

This section is dedicated to volunteer opportunities that may require a little planning on your part (such as upcoming local events) but do not require any training or long-term commitment
